The sweet little Malabar is busy now in her forthcoming project “Vel”. This cute baby stars with Surya for the second time after the terrific big hit Gajini. The movie is shaping well under the direction of the stupendous director Hari who has before given a good number of big hits in his early movies. The movie has started to shot right from the month of June and movie is planned to shot in southern districts of Tamil Nadu in Tirunelveli, Amba Samudram, Dindugal and Pollachi. The major highlight of the movie is its sound check which is scored by the rocking performer Yuvan Shankar Raja. Yuvan has come up with great tunes which will fulfill his lovers.

Initially many in the Tamil industry considered her to be a jinx as the initial movies she signed in Tamil were either cancelled, delayed or faced financial problems. Although she signed Ullam Ketkumae as her first Tamil film, her first release was M. Kumaran son of Mahalakshmi which was a remake of her Telugu film Amma Nanna O Tamila Ammayi. The movie went on to be one of the biggest hits in 2004 and introduced Asin to Kollywood.Her movie Ghajini with Surya, which was released both in Tamil and Telegu, was a box office hit in both industries. Many movies followed and Asin played opposite some popular actors in South Indian Cinema, among them Surya, Vijay, Vikram and Ajith, with whom she starred in Varalaru.Her next movies include Pokiri with Vijay, Aalwar with Ajith Kumar and Dasavatharam with Kamal Haasan. Asin who was in the news for rejecting 'Jillendru Oru Kadhal' and ending up in a bitter tussle with Surya has done it again. This time the hero is none other than the Ultimate star, Ajith. Asin was approached by director Perarusu for a song sequence in the movie 'Thirupathi' opposite Ajith.But Asin seems to have rejected the offer, stating that she would be interested only if she has to act as actress Asin herself. With Nayan, climbing the ranks rapidly, one is not sure whether Asin is doing the right thing here.

Asin, has moved lock, stock and barrel from her Harrington Road apartment in Chennai to her Lokhandwala flat, Andheri west in Mumbai. Tamil cinema's 'numero uno' heroine of 2007 has decided to take the most crucial career move in her life, by shifting to Mumbai!
Is the queen of Kollywood abdicating her throne? Well it looks like that, at the moment. She has only one Tamil film coming up for release, Dasavatharam in the summer of 2008. Asin has not signed a single Tamil film this year, which means she is unlikely to have another release next year.
Meanwhile the smart girl that she is, has become a Mumbaikar! You can spot her frequently at the posh Infinity mall near her apartment or at PVR's Juhu multiplex. She is just catching up with the latest in fashion and also watching all new releases in Bollywood and picking up the finer points. Last week Asin and her family were spotted at PVR, catching up with the Ajit- Nayanthara film Billa!

Asin is now finishing the Hindi Ghajani with Aamir, which is likely to release in the summer of 2008. It is Aamir's first commercial masala movie after a long time and if it clicks Asin will straightaway enter the 'A' league of actresses in Bollywood. As of now the actress is flooded with offers in Hindi and is considering three big Hindi films.
She is being offered to be cast opposite the hot and happening young Bollywood hero Shahid Kapoor in his new film to be directed by Ken Ghosh. Another role that is exciting Asin, is to play Amitabh Bachchan's daughter in writer-director Honey Irani's new project on the emotional relationship between a father and daughter. And another project that is waiting for her is a new Salman Khan musical entertainer to be directed by his brother Sohail Khan.
But Asin on her part is in no hurry to sign any films till the shoot of Ghajani is over. She has used her own voice in the film which is being shot with sync sound. The actress is also working hard on her Hindi diction, as she is very particular that she dubs in her own voice for all her Hindi films. Asin, the Kochi girl has made herself accessible to Bollywood and is on the right track to superstardom by moving to Mumbai.

As a Brand Ambassador for Big 92.7 FM, actress Asin decided to celebrate her birthday today, October 26, at the FM radio station with a group of children from an orphanage.

Asin has been taking care of the children of Seva Chakra, a Chennai-based children's home, for quite some time now.

Asin is riding the crest of a popularity wave, but wants to tread her path carefully. Ask her how it feels to become popular in a short span of time and she asks: “Am I popular? And adds: “Very satisfying. It’s a great feeling when your work gets appreciated.” She was in Coimbatore recently to participate in Hilaricas 06, an inter-collegiate competition organised by the Hindusthan College of Arts and Science.

With offers lined up in her kitty, she is in no hurry to accept new projects. “I don’t want to be typecast. Instead, I want to experiment with roles that give scope for performance. Both my forthcoming movies are commercial entertainers where I playa bubbly girl,” she adds.
Asin has a set of criteria while selecting a movie. “I look at projects as a whole. I will listen to a script first, then look at my character, the director and the production house before taking a decision. I insist on a bound script and also participate in story discussions,” she says.
She attributes her success to hard work, dedication and good luck. About inspiration for her roles, she says: “So far, I have played characters we get to meet in everyday life ? teacher, NRI, doctor and student. I observe and take cues from life. But Kalpana in Ghajini is special. She gets to do so much in the movie ? romance, be sentimental and provide the laughs. A. R. Murugadoss is a no-tension director who gives you the freedom to improvise on your performance.”
She says working with leading stars helped improve her acting skills. “It was great. I not only enjoyed shooting but also learnt a lot. Suriya is very hardworking and focusses on improvising, Ajit speaks out his mind, Vijay is cool and a great dancer and Vikram is friendly with everyone.”
About her knowledge of Tamil and Telugu, the Malayali replies: “I didn’t know a word of Tamil or Telugu when I first came here, but I picked them up. I think I have a flair for languages. Now, I do my own dubbing. The working styles in both the Tamil and Telugu film industries are the same. Very professional and friendly and they encourage new talent in a big way.”

"I have sculpted 'Sivakasi' just that little bit better than 'Thirupachi.' The film should be very satisfying to women," explained Perarasu about the merits of the film, before elaborating on the Vijay-Asin characters. He did not forget to talk about the peppy dance number by Nayantara! When asked, "You have written all the songs yourself without giving an opportunity to other lyricists," Perarasu responded saying "There's no need for poets to write songs in my film. As long as one has a way with words, it is enough. That's why I took the task upon myself. 'Kumbida pona deivam kurukkey vandhadhamma' is a common statement. Why do we need a poet to pen that line?" So, we challenged him by asking, "Kannadasan also wrote an ordinary line like 'Ponaal pogattum podaa.' Does that mean he is not a poet?" and Perarasu's face shrank a bit. Getting a grasp on the situation, producer A M Rathnam patted Perarasu on the shoulder before any further drastic remarks were made!

About Asin, well what can I say?? I have seen her only one movie, that is Ghajani, and man oh man I have become crazy about her. Now don't get me wrong, it's not because of her looks, obviously she looks great man, but I have fallen for her acting, her facial expressions. The last scene of Ghajani, where Amir and Asin were looking at each other, such a long scene and that too with an actor like Amir, this girl has shown her capability and beaten Amir hands down. That is the best expression I have ever seen given by any actor in any line of cinema. I had no idea so much can be said just with one's eyes without saying a single syllable. Asin rocks, keep rocking......
